Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The Willows Primary School values the individuality of all children. We are committed to giving all our children every opportunity to achieve the highest of standards. This is reflected in our school values and mission statement. We do this by taking account of pupils' varied life experiences and needs. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum and have high expectations of all our children. The achievements, attitudes and well being of all our children matter. This policy helps to ensure that the school promotes the individuality of all our children, irrespective of ethnicity, attainment, age, disability, gender or background.

The Willows Primary School Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Objectives

Objective 1

To continue to close gaps in attainment and achievement between pupils and all groups of pupils: by gender, disadvantage, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Looked After Children, and pupils from different heritage groups

Objective 2

To diversify and decolonise our curricula to ensure pupils see themselves represented and develop a wider lens in which to see the world and their place in it as global citizens.

Objective 3

Eradicate the use of identity-based abuse- particularly homophobic, transphobic, disablist, sexist and racist language by pupils in the school.

Objective 4

Undertake an analysis of recruitment data and trends with regard to ethnicity. Increase the representation of staff from BAME communities over a 3-year period (from July 2022 to July 2025).
