The Willows Curriculum

Pupils and their learning lie at the heart of everything that we do at The Willows. The bedrock of our curriculum design is based upon the drive to optimise achievement, equity and enjoyment for all pupils. Our aim is to provide every child with the perfect start in life that successfully prepares them for their continuing education and ultimately as lifelong learners and great global citizens. To achieve these aims, it is vital that we offer a curriculum that goes above and beyond statutory content.

We offer an exciting broad and balanced curriculum based upon The National Curriculum. However, this is a bare minimum, and our offer encompasses much more.

Cultural capital is central to the curriculum at the Willows Primary School. Cultural capital is the gathering of knowledge, behaviours, and skills that a child can draw upon and which demonstrates their cultural awareness, knowledge and competence; it is one of the key ingredients a child will draw upon to be successful in society, their career and the world of work.

Please see the documents below which illustrate how we provide Cultural Capital for children at the Willows.

Careful consideration is needed when planning to ensure progression of knowledge and skills for each pupil as they move from Early Years to Upper Key Stage Two.
